Q&A Officer

We are looking for a team member to maintain this performance and track record, increase automation and scale up for expansion into the USA and beyond.

Job description

Once in a career opportunity

Oxehealth is helping to save lives and improve healthcare for everyone. The Oxehealth Regulatory team are inventing a new way of delivering class-leading quality assurance - we deliver “Engineered Compliance”. We have internationally recognised quality management and security management certification with an excellent audit track record, and are proud to maintain this as a central part of the Oxehealth culture, rather than being the “Quality Police”. We are looking for a team member to maintain this performance and track record, increase automation and scale up for expansion into the USA and beyond.

This role is a chance for someone early in a technical QA career to become a part of building something special that is helping change healthcare for patients and staff, and to learn and mature as part of a growing regulatory team that wants to be recognised for a new, class leading way of approaching compliance.

Our product

Our technology is an assistant for when nurses and carers can’t be there, paying attention to every room they are supervising. We have secured the world’s first medical device clearance for software enabling an optical sensor remotely. We can compute heart rate and breathing rate totally contact free, by analysing the video from standard digital cameras, with medical grade accuracy. We can also monitor human activity, behaviours and safety (such as how long they have been in bed, how long they have been sleeping and other general activity statuses)without having to invade privacy. Oxehealth is used by mental health nurses looking after dementia patients, psychiatrists treating patients in crisis, care home staff supporting the elderly and prison staff caring for ill prisoners.

This gives Doctors, Nurses and Custodians more time in which to give hands-on care where &when it’s needed most – and better data with which to plan future care. We help staff prevent injuries and improve healthcare. As one medical director remarked:

“Your technology will change the practice of medicine.”

The BBC recently featured our technology in use: watch here.

We work with 1 in 3 English Mental Health Trusts, care homes in the UK and Sweden and with customers in acute hospitals, prisons and police. We plan to launch our business in the USA in 2020 and elsewhere in Europe in 2021.

You’ll be joining a well-backed UK business at the start of scaling up its operations around the world; these roles don’t come around often!

Your role: at the heart of keeping Oxehealth’s quality management system running at its best

Oxehealth approaches compliance differently, with “Engineered Compliance” at its core, driven by technical, innovative people with a desire to support other team members and evolve better processes - we aren’t the “Quality Police”, we build the best system we can and help the company follow it.

The Junior QA will work alongside the Regulatory Lead, helping to support all aspects of quality assurance across the business, and shape and improve our unique approach. This role offers a wide variety of work, significant learning and growth opportunities and wide scope to take on more responsibility in new initiatives, managing processes and technical documentation.

The Junior QA in Oxehealth will:

  • Be instrumental in monitoring and maintaining adherence to our processes by keeping quality documents and records up to date and progressing standard quality processes(e.g. software release, customer installations, software problems and corrective actions)
  • Add depth and breadth to data driven product and process monitoring by supporting our weekly, monthly and quarterly data and product monitoring cadence and helping drive more automated tooling and data driven processes
  • Help everyone in our company to contribute to Oxehealth’s unique “Engineered Compliance” approach, being the the first point of contact for training, feedback and helping implement improvements and innovations

Most importantly, this is not a traditionally “junior” role - it will involve working closely with the regulatory lead in building the Oxehealth Engineered Compliance system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete the quality management documentation and advise the team on any quality management issues when they develop software releases and complete customer installations
  • Work with researchers and product development engineers to assess product changes and assisting the Regulatory Lead to maintain the software technical file, with an opportunity to take on more responsibility
  • Manage and maintain post market surveillance processes, meeting with other team members to gather data and keep records up to date
  • Work with the Regulatory Lead and line managers in delivering on-boarding and essential compliance training to Oxehealth team members
  • Work with the Regulatory Lead and other team members to help create and improve systems, tools and automation
  • Assist in preparing for and supporting quality management reviews and audits
  • Manage CAPA and customer complaints and other problem reporting matters
  • Gather feedback on processes and policies and work with the Regulatory Lead to manage risks, deficiencies and opportunities for improvement, with an opportunity to take on more responsibility

You: the skills, qualities and experiences we’re looking for

You will need to have an “Engineering Mindset” and a passion for building and improving systems, and so you will:

  • Have structured, logical and detail oriented approach, and be diligent in task completion
  • Have a passion for systematisation and automation
  • Be open minded and adaptable, with a willingness to problem solve and help others
  • Enjoy writing documentation and processes, as well as creating tooling or scripting to support the processes
  • Be inquisitive and prepared to challenge the status quo when it matters - in Oxehealth we say there are “no sacred cows”

To thrive in this role at Oxehealth, will need to be:

  • Level headed and able to follow processes even when faced with big challenges
  • Keen to learn and develop your skills and knowledge
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving environment where priorities may change quickly
  • Flexible, friendly and approachable

You will have experience of:

  • Working within a quality managed environment (e.g. to ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO9001), although extensive experience is not required - this could be your first step towards a more compliance focussed role
  • Delivering software, which could be a coding or testing role (ideally medical device software, but this isn’t essential)
  • Using tools and technology to solve problems with an engineering approach (e.g.Selenium for software testing, Jenkins for continuous integration, Salesforce for business processes, Jira for issue tracking)
  • Working with teams of bright and innovative individuals

You will likely have a degree or equivalent qualifications in engineering or computer science.

Oxehealth is a company growing at pace, this requires an adaptable approach to find the right solution for the current phase of growth. You should be comfortable experimenting and trying new ways of working.
