Benefits

Oxevision gives teams the clinical insights they require to intervene proactively and to plan care so that they deliver safer, higher quality and more efficient care. Inpatient and residential care providers realise an immediate step change and continuous improvement in care by deploying the Oxehealth Service, which includes Oxevision.

Clinicians use our service to make a step change in many care outcomes. Here are the most common:

How Oxevision helps reflect, learn & plan better care

Obtaining objective patient data with which to plan care has been a challenge in inpatient and residential settings, because no technology before has delivered accurate clinical insight obtained from the patient.

Oxevision provides teams with the clinical and behavioural insights they need to help individualize and plan care better for patients, allowing staff to spend more with patients when it matters most.

When we agree to reduce observations, it can be a bit worrying, but Oxehealth offers us reassurance. We use the system to do spot checks which enables us to better manage patient risk. It’s uncomfortable, but you have to take that positive risk to move the patient forward in their recovery and in coping on their own.

“We have some patients that will self-harm as a form of communication. With Oxehealth, we can intervene before they self-harm and make sure they’re safe. I think we have a better balance with our care now. The patients are learning to engage with themselves, develop their coping skills and it breaks those behaviour cycles that can lead to a patient self-harming.”

Ward Manager, female acute ward, EPUT
“We’re not giving patients the same type of physical attention. Patients go to psychology sessions to learn about coping mechanisms and skills. Now, we can monitor them through the Oxehealth system and we can take time to have that meaningful interaction and say “how are you”, not just being reactive to an incident. Communication has improved, patients aren’t feeling like children, they are feeling more like adults.”

“The ward staff have reflective meetings where we discuss and learn from incidents that have occurred and that have caused a lot of anxiety for our staff. Now we have the Oxehealth tablet, it's possible to change that. We bring the tablet with us to our meetings and it means only 1 of us needs to remain on the ward. We’re reassured that we’re still keeping an eye on our patients and are alerted if they need us. All staff can now benefit from the meetings.”

“…if somebody does fall and we don’t witness that, then we have to treat it as if they may have had a significant head injury; we have to do certain observations."

“Because of Oxehealth, staff are more proactive now. They use Oxehealth as a tool and they get to the patient before they come to any harm. We have seen a reduction in the number of incidents that require us to call 999. With the help of Oxehealth, we’ve intervened at the right time, and minimized the risk of further harm”

Matron, EPUT
"Now you can take time to have that meaningful interaction and say “how are you”, not just being reactive to an incident. We purposefully go to make 1 to 1 conversation, not because a patient has just tried to cut themselves."

“Before it was a constant busy, like it was more firefighting, going from one to the next thing. Now you can take time to have that meaningful interaction and say “how are you”, not just being reactive to an incident. We purposefully go to make 1 to 1 conversation, not because a patient has just tried to cut themselves.”
