Oxehealth works with mental health trust to deliver pioneering technology to improve patient care in seclusion suites

Oxehealth is proud to deliver its pioneering technology to support staff in delivering improved patient care at the Springfield University Hospital. The technology, which is installed in one of the hospital's seclusion suites, turns standard optical sensors into non-contact health and human activity monitorsand alerts staff to check the patient if no human signals are detected in an occupied room.
The collaboration will see the first fully commercial deployment of Oxehealth's Video Analytics (VA) product in a Mental Health setting, to support staff in monitoring patients in seclusion at the trust, which is committed to investing in innovation, research and training and to being a leader in improving patient care. SWLSTG Trust serves over one million people across the London boroughs of Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth.
Phase 1 of the contract sees the technology being installed to monitor a seclusion suite with Phase 2 giving the Trust the opportunity to extend its use to include monitoring section 136 suites at the Springfield University Hospital's Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) ward. The collaboration will see Oxehealth working with SWLSTG to deploy additional features to the system as it releases them.
"As the principal provider of mental health services across South West London, serving 1.1 million people, we are always looking for new ways to improve our inpatient's safety. Our commitment to innovation has enabled us to continue to adopt pioneering solutions and we look forward to continuing to deliver quality patient care across South West London," said SWLSTG Director of Nursing and Quality Vanessa Ford.
This collaborative project has gone through the Trust's rigorous governance and compliance regimes to ensure the deployment meets the highest standards of privacy, data protection and security and, most importantly, adheres with the Caldicott guidelines on patient confidentiality.
"Oxehealth are proud to be working with South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust. As our first fully commercial installation of the technology in seclusion, this a milestone in the life of our company.," said Hugh Lloyd-Jukes, CEO of Oxehealth. "We're delighted that technology that was created in Oxford and first trialled in West London will now be serving the people of South West London. Mental health nurses and doctors deliver life changing, and often life-saving, care and deserve more powerful tools to support them in looking after their patients we're committed to delivering these solutions to forward thinking partners like South West London and St George's."
